Designer Turns Salvaged Wood Fragments into Gorgeous Handmade Jewelry

Melbourne-based designer Britta Boeckmann has a talent for creating absolutely gorgeous, handmade jewelry. Transforming wood and resin into a diverse array of eye-catching pendants and rings, the artist sells her stunning accessories through her Etsy shop, BoldB. All pieces are decidedly understated, with a simplistic quality that accentuates the natural characteristics of the materials she works with. Since we first discovered Boeckmann's handcrafted pieces, she's continued to expand her inventory with range of shapes, colours, and designs.

Boeckmann graduated in Germany with a degree in industrial design before making the move to Australia in 2013, where she began to tinker with wood and create jewelry. After joining the Wangaratta Woodworker’s Studio, the artist picked up a variety of fabrication techniques which she applies to create her jewelry. Working without a template, each trinket emerges organically, and is entirely unique. Boeckmann selects bits of rare wood, sands them down and then applies a varnish to add a gleam. Pairing these wood bits with vibrant resin results in beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry.
