Design Inspiration: Viceroy Miami (9 pics)

Instead of looking at home decorating magazines (RIP Domino and now Met mag), I tend to look at boutique or luxury hotels for design inspiration. I like how certain hotels push boundaries – from Marcel Wanders’ “Sleeping Beauty’s castle” (aka Mondrian in South Beach) to the funky fabulousness of the SLS Beverly Hills designed by Philippe Starck, each hotel carries with it a unique perspective. That being said, it should come at no surprise then, that my latest hotel obsession is the Viceroy Miami.

At first glance I find this place gaudy. Kelly Wearstler purposely intertwined modern decor with Asian accents to create this fantasyland. But then, I look at the pictures a little longer and I find something refreshing about her color choices. Mint green with fuschia? A yellow chandelier? Yellow and orange chairs? Yes, it just works.

In addition, the Viceroy has a 50-person hot tub, the longest infinity-edge pool in Florida, and a rooftop lounge 50 stories up. Guests can also borrow Wiis and Playstations, as well as bikes and motor scooters, and are allowed beach access at The Tides South Beach.

I can’t wait to see this in person.
