Mysterious Lampshade Man Snaps Photos Across Austria

A curious project known simply as Die Lampe, or The Lamp, features a man wearing a lampshade on his head as he poses for pictures all across Innsbruck, Austria. The unusual yet entertaining project this man has undertaken is masked in mystery along with the elusive subject's identity. Though his name and face are unknown, he certainly has a way of attracting attention.

The whimsical series of images, which are only growing in numbers with each passing day, ironically spotlight the two-legged lamp-man hybrid balancing on railings, standing defiantly on the edge of rooftops, and pretzeling himself between wood posts. Part photo series, part performance art; his figure is seen delightfully putting on a visual show that simultaneously highlights the various locales of the Austrian city. In a way, the subject of Die Lampe‘s images are not actually the man himself, but the city he inhabits.
