Imagining the Urban Dinosaur

Bristol-based Illustrator Andy Council creates detailed urban dinosaurs that have literally become a part of our modern landscape. Consisting of buildings, highways and anything else you would find in a city, these dinosaurs are far from prehistoric. Council describes his work by saying, “I use my drawing skills and love of detail to create bizarrely intricate collections of creatures; from rabbits made of tanks to dinosaurs mobilized by 'lots of stuff.'”

Council, who was trained in the traditional techniques of animation and drawing, was influenced by Miyazaki and Geoff Darrow, amongst others. He works with many different mediums, combining graphics, line drawing, ink and paint pen to create these multi-faceted beasts.
