For those of us who live in a bustling, crowded metropolis, a glittering sky filled with stars is a spectacular sight we rarely get to see. Finnish photographer Oscar Keserci offers us glimpses of these astounding views and tranquil starry nights. His breathtaking images showcase dark skies fully illuminated by millions of brilliant celestial points.
Finally…a reason to get the new iPod Nano! The idea of turning the Nano into a watch is one thing, but actually making it look and feel right is completely another. Enter Scott Wilson, formerly the global creative director for Nike Watches. He’s the man behind TikTok and LunaTik, well-designed, engineered and manufactured watch kits that snuggly and beautifully cradle your Nano. TikTok is the cheaper version with a plastic band and a snap-in frame inspired by the locking mechanisms in skiboots. The LunaTik is the nicer, more premium offering – it’s forged from Aerospace Grade Aluminum and then machined via CNC into its final form. “The straps are made from high grade silicone rubber and the hardware is solid stainless steel not some chrome plated brass that will wear off. The quality of these watch cases and straps will be scrutinized very carefully and produced in the same factories that produce the best watches for companies like Nixon, Diesel, Vestal, and Nike.” He even took the time to make a snazzy video, below.
Wilson is using Kickstarter to find people to fund the project. By pledging at least $25 you are pre-ordering TikTok (which will retail for $34.95) or by pledging $50 you are pre-ordering the LunaTik (which will retail for $69.95). Pledge even more, like $150+ and you start getting into the limited edition red-anodized kit. He needed $15K to reach his goal (he’s at $127,024 right now so I think it’s safe to say..this baby is going into production). Update: Just received this nice message from Scott in my inbox. Apparently, it went out to everyone who contributed. (How sweet is this? I’m inspired!) Inspired! By Scott Wilson Hello All. Thank you for all your support, messages and viral sharing! Wow! Someone asked in the blogs if I am laughing or crying at this point. Hmmmm. I will get back to you that. All I can say is I am just trying to absorb this. I have seen a lot of things in my 20 years of designing products for small and huge companies alike but this is definitely a new phenomena. I am blown away by this experience and your unbelievable response. We are in awe of the support and the power of Kickstarter and the community. Beyond the product we designed, and all of you are going to receive, I believe this is a significant milestone in product development history. And you are part of it. Part of what I consider will eventually be a common way for individuals, DIYers, small groups and aspiring entrepreneurs to realize their dreams. And you were there at the beginning. So congratulations! We are nothing without you. You made this happen. And while we always try our hardest to make the best product possible this show of faith has inspired us to go above and beyond. We will be keeping everyone up to date with the latest news and developments. Additionally I will be posting videos and pictures documenting the development process including trips to the factory, first sample reviews, etc. I want to involve you in the process. Currently we are buried responding personally to all the individual inquiries as well as managing the ongoing product development tasks. So please be patient as we get through the next few days and catch up with the overwhelming response. Thanks everyone! Scott
