Artist "Tattoos" Passport Pages with Elaborate Ink Drawings

Leonard Combier's amazingly detailed drawings of fanciful creatures on passport pages make us want to travel to another world. The Berlin resident doesn't hesitate to sketch monsters, tiki statues and mysterious pairs of eyes across already-stamped passport pages. He's completely filled the pages of his passport, and now he offers to do it for other people. “Please do not hesitate to send me a message if you want a little drawing on your passport,” the artist wrote on his Facebook page in December. Apparently, excited travelers have been taking him up on the offer.

By doodling on still-valid official documents, Combier says he feels like he's creating a small part of permanent history. His drawings will go on to cross exotic borders and fly to far-off lands to be enjoyed by customs officials and other travelers. “It's…very nice to know that the owner of the passport will have my drawing within reach for ten years on an official document,” he says. “A bit like a tattoo.”
