Beautifully Bold Bursts of Color Create Unpredictable Shapes

Dutch photographer Marcel Christ has a unique approach to still life photography–he creates crisp, modern, and innovative images that radiate with a lively and explosive energy. With degrees in both chemical engineering and photography, Christ blends those two interests together to obtain his powerfully dynamic work.

Through experimentation with countless liquids, the artist finds ways to give life to otherwise inanimate objects. In this ongoing series, Powder, Christ captures the expressive movement of colorful powders that pop out against a solid black background in unpredictable formations that result in an organized chaos.

According to his bio, Christ's images “have an unmistakable life-force. His clean modern lighting and confident execution of imaginative concepts transforms even the most mundane items into art forms. Nothing is still in his work. Everything moves, jumps, flies, like in a memorable one-frame movie.”
