It brings us great pleasure to announce that we've just added the beautifully enchanting photos of Joy St. Claire to My Modern Shop! The self-taught photographer shoots with a classic Ricoh film camera. Her inspiration comes from wandering in nature off the main trail or road, onto paths less taken. In an exclusive interview with Joy we learned that she came to appreciate nature during the summers she spent at her grandfather's farm. As she described, “We would wander through the woods and he would have me sit quietly beside him and we would watch the woods come to life around us. I learned from him to become a part of my surroundings and because of that I have always felt at home in nature. I feel a sense of serenity and also like a very small part of something so much larger and greater.”
“There is so much to see, experience and document, and a lifetime is just too short. I experience this world with my eyes and heart. I feel that art intertwines a passion with a medium. My medium is photography and my passions are nature, gardening, flowers and people watching. I'm always wondering how things would look from a different angle or perspective and then set out to record that with my camera. Yesterday is gone, but it remains tangible for a lifetime with the camera.”
