Looking for something different to wear on Halloween this year? Designer Steve Wintercroft has just the thing with these geometric mask templates that you can create with your very own paper. The artist's Etsy shop has all kinds of shapes including a Jack-o'-lantern, a skull, and the heads of a bear, fox, owl, and lion, to name a few.
Wintercroft's intention is to minimize the resources necessary to produce his playful products. He provides digital files to save on shipping fuel and suggests that anyone who purchases a template use recycled paper to create the final product. In doing so, it eliminates mass manufacturing and minimizes the environmental impact that we all have on this world.
When speaking about how he came up with the idea for the masks, Wintercroft explains, “A couple of years ago, after receiving an invite to a Halloween party but struggling for costume ideas, I sat down with a pile of old cardboard, some parcel tape, a pair of scissors and plenty of hot tea. An hour or so later and after some trial and error I had made myself a fox mask.”
