Famous Quotes Illustrated with Minimalist Designs

Using nuggets of wisdom from famous figures like Rumi, Oscar Wilde, and Albert Einstein, Toronto-based web and graphic designer Ryan McArthur turns inspirational quotes into beautiful, minimalist designs that illustrate the quotation’s meaning. The striking, mostly monochromatic designs are elegant in their simplicity, but still manage to effectively convey deep messages and philosophies in creative ways.

McArthur creates his works by hand, first drawing them with pen and ink, and then digitally rendering the designs. He’s inspired by meaningful quotes that he finds, sometimes finding the quote first and then coming up with an appropriate design, or sometimes creating the graphic first and then matching it with an inspiring message. “I really wanted to find quotes that not only provided a great visual to play off of, but that speak to life in general,” he says.
