Happy Dog Can’t Stop Smiling, Even After Being Stung

There's one dog out there who's inspired us to come up with a new life motto: “Just keep smiling!” Following an unfortunate and seemingly painful encounter with an insect (or other poisonous creature), a Golden Retriever in Thailand wasn't willing to give up her contagious smile. Even after the pup was rushed to the vet, she kept smiling through the inflammation. At this point, the dog's human Natthathida Nilburt took photos of her canine companion and later posted the lovable snapshots on Facebook.

According to The Dodo, Nilburt has indicated that her furry friend fully recovered. Considering how deadly insect stings can be, this serves as a wonderful reminder for pet owners everywhere to be careful. If your companion gets stung, Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine states that you should gently remove the stinger with tweezers, apply baking soda to neutralize the venom, and carefully place a cool compress on the area to reduce swelling. Keep a close eye on your pet for 24 hours and watch out for swelling around the mouth, an increase in inflammation over the course of 5-10 minutes, breathing difficulties, and lethargy. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your vet immediately.
