(Who could forget Jennifer Aniston in nothing but a tie in that famous GQ cover?) So what separates Thompson’s work from countless other celebrity or fashion photographers? It’s the way he captures women. Working under the late and great, Irving Penn, Thompson learned to keep his photos “crisp and direct”, to make each image shine.

Magical Photos of the World’s Oldest Lake Frozen Over

Thought to be the world’s oldest lake, Lake Baikal in southern Siberia is also one of the world’s deepest, and one of the clearest. These combined characteristics make it a prime location for photographers on any occasion. But photographer Kristina Makeeva took things a step further when she recently walked on the frozen lake for a set of incredible photographs. This freshwater lake reaches depths of 5,387 feet (1,642 meters)

Adorable Red Panda Cub Can’t Stop Hugging Toy That Looks Just Like Her

As if Maiya—a recovering red panda cub living at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia—wasn’t already completely adorable, the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 2-month-old has recently been photographed with a cuddly new companion: a same-species stuffed animal. In November, Amala, a beloved red panda at the zoo, gave birth to Maiya. At first, the little one was happy and healthy. Not long ago, however, she was traumatically injured while being carried in her mother’s mouth.
