Tranquil Pond House Generates Energy Instead of Consuming It

Louisiana's Holly & Smith Architects has designed a sustainable home that's the epitome of relaxation. The beautiful retreat–which is known as The Pond House–seamlessly blends in with its serene surroundings. The naturalistic look of this residence is enhanced by the fact that it overlooks a calming pond lined with towering oak trees. At night, this view becomes even more incredible as the home illuminates the rustic darkness like a giant, glowing lantern.

In addition to aesthetically complementing the environment, The Pond House is also an eco-friendly abode that generates energy rather than consuming it. The three-story structure's roof slopes so that rainwater is recycled back into the pond, while giving the solar panels maximum exposure. With its high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, LED lighting, energy star equipment, and airtight insulation, the home aims to respect the environment that contains it. The residence's design also allows for cross-ventilation and natural lighting during the day, which helps the building to maintain its sustainability as the seasons change. Ultimately, The Pond House is proof that eco-friendly homes can be both beautiful and comfortable.
