Opening Reception: Saturday, August 1st, 7pm-11pm @ Instinct Gallery: Des Moines

The Instinct Gallery in Des Moines, Iowa just sent us these pics for their upcoming show “Animal Nature.” The group show features one of our favorite artists, Jeremiah Ketner (above), whose beautiful pieces really do light up a room. Over 20 artists will be presenting their pieces, making this one very eclectic exhibit. Animal Nature runs until August 29th, with the opening reception on August 1st, from 7pm-11pm. There will also be body painting and live music at the opening gig, so if you happen to find yourself in Des Moines this weekend, make sure to check it out!

Photographer Uses UV Light to Capture Shimmering Shots of Fluorescent Flowers

Enchanted by the luminous splendor of nature, California-based photographer Craig Burrows captures one-of-a-kind photos of glowing flora. Burrows uses ultraviolet-induced visible fluorescence—a fancy term for a photographic process that employs high-intensity ultraviolet light—to produce pictures of plant-life that appears to glow. Shimmering with light and beaming with color, his series of fluorescent flowers conveys the underlying beauty of the natural world. Each floral photo features a single plant bursting with radiant blooms.
