Macrame wall hangings first became an interior design trend during the 1970s, but fiber artist Rianne Zuijderduin of Teddy and Wool modernizes the craft with her stylish, colorful renditions. Handmade by knotting and braiding 100% high quality cotton cords into intricate patterns, each stunning, geometric design features vibrant dip-dyed gradients that bring a pop of color to any room.
Zuijderduin began creating her textile wall hangings out of a passion for interior design and a love for natural fibers. She explains, “I can’t go a day without my signature rope cotton going through my hands.” the talented artist is currently in her third trimester, expecting her second child, but that doesn’t stop her from doing what she loves most. “I’m starting to swell up like a balloon and I need more and more ‘breaks’ from knotting,” Zuijderdui admits on Instagram. “But creating art really relaxes me and takes my mind off the nausea, tiredness and other mother issues.”
