A Vintage Modern Design Couple With Seven Kids! – Sixx Design

If you've ever dreamed of taking old, dilapidated buildings and turning them into wonderful, livable homes, here's an inspirational story you'll want to read. Cortney and Robert Novogratz are serial renovators who find joy and happiness in turning the ordinary into extraordinary. Their company, called Sixx Design (named after their six children which has now turned into seven), specializes in blending vintage flea market finds with modern furnishings, creating unique, one-of-a-kind homes. By personally overseeing everything from the construction and architecture to the interior design and art curating, they have earned themselves a solid reputation, especially in the Manhattan area. Recently they were profiled by the New York Times for their current home, a steel-and-concrete house on the West Side Highway in New York. Watch the slideshow here. “Our office is in our home, we often have meetings at the dining room table. A lot of time is also spent at the job sites. Our plans are always evolving and changing as we go…'An architect's most useful tools are an eraser at the drafting board , and a wrecking bar at the site..” Frank Lloyd Wright. We are constantly inspired by the city we live in and other large urban landscapes around the world.” Here's that West Side Hideway House:
