Information Overload Trashcan

Aristarkh Chernyshev's info-sculpture “Urgent!” is a statement on “information overload, Web 2.0 and information aesthetics.” It is shown in a trash can setting in order to convey the idea that since news coming onto the Internet is in real time, as soon as it is uploaded, something else is already there to take its place. The displays on the LED display are live RSS feeds from different news websites.

The intertwining and scrunched up look that Chernyshev has used makes the manipulation of the ticker look natural. The trashcan is overflowing, with an overload of information coming in and out. The artist makes a bold statement that everyone can understand, while making the viewer think about the state of information on the internet.
