If you’re missing your friends during the current COVID-19 lockdown, French artist Lise Grossmann has created a humorous way to keep your favorite people close (while adhering to social distancing rules). She creates custom temporary tattoos of peoples’ faces that you can wear on your own skin.

Grossmann began creating her custom portraits in 2008, but never expected her small business to grow into the full-time job it is today. As of writing, she’s created over 10,800 portraits for people all over the world. “I'm obsessed by people's faces and I spend hours watching and drawing them,” she says. “We all have two eyes, one nose and one mouth, ears and hair but yet each face is unique. As likeness is all about millimeters, I try to summarize with precision each features [sic], it's a real challenge.”

Rendered in her distinct minimalist style, each hand-drawn portrait captures Grossmann’s subjects in simple black lines. Every custom portrait is created from a photograph, sent by the customer. Grossmann makes a sketch and sends it back for approval, so you can be sure you’re happy with the final design before it’s made into a temporary tattoo. You can even add a name, date, or slogan for no extra charge. Users can then celebrate their best friend, partner, parent, or even their pet, by wearing Grossmann’s illustrations on their skin.

These temporary tattoos are perfect as novelty birthday or wedding gifts. Or perhaps you just want to fool someone into thinking you got their face permanently etched onto your skin. Whatever you have in mind, Grossmann has you covered, literally. But if tattoos aren’t your thing, you can also get an illustrated face as a stamp or printed as stickers, onto a mug, or as a framed art print.
