Both David Bowie’s Space Oddity and the Apollo 11 Moon landing turn 50 this month, marking two “giant leap[s] for mankind.” In honor of the glam rock icon, Mattel released a collectible David Bowie Barbie doll that comes styled in the metallic Ziggy Stardust “space suit.”

Mattel says, “In a definitive celebration of two pop culture icons, Barbie® honors the ultimate pop chameleon, English singer, songwriter and actor, David Bowie, whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire.” The limited edition doll features Ziggy Stardust’s signature red hair, metallic catsuit, platform boots, painted nails, and trademark astral makeup.

The David Bowie Barbie doll is retailed at $50 and went on sale earlier this month to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Bowie’s Space Oddity album, released on July 11, 1969. It even comes packaged with images from Bowie's early career, making it the ultimate collector’s item for Bowie and Barbie fans alike.
