Robles<\/a>&nbsp;viaj&oacute; a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mymodernmet.com\/es\/omar-robles-bailarinas-puerto-rico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Puerto Rico<\/a>&nbsp;wa Puerto Rico para rendir homenaje a sus ra&iacute;ces. Ahora, el fot&oacute;grafo de danza ha vuelto para mostrarnos la isla en un estado completamente diferente. Seis meses despu&eacute;s de que el hurac&aacute;n Mar&iacute;a arrasara con todo a su paso, Puerto Rico sigue devastado. A trav&eacute;s de sus fotograf&iacute;as, Robles nos muestra una visi&oacute;n que busca hacer un llamado sobre lo mucho que a&uacute;n falta por hacer en Puerto Rico, as&iacute; como la resiliencia de su gente.<\/p>\n<p>Al viajar por su pa&iacute;s natal, desde las &aacute;reas de bajos recursos de San Juan hasta los peque&ntilde;os pueblos fantasma que brotan a lo largo de la isla, Robles qued&oacute; sorprendido. &ldquo;Fue un viaje incre&iacute;blemente emocional y dif&iacute;cil. Tuve que contener las l&aacute;grimas m&aacute;s veces de las que puedo recordar&#8221;, <a href=\"https:\/\/omarzrobles.blog\/2018\/03\/17\/puerto-rico-still-preciosa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">escribe<\/a> Robles. &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meses despu&eacute;s del hurac&aacute;n, mi isla, mi gente, mi familia a&uacute;n tienen heridas abiertas de aquel horrendo d&iacute;a<\/span>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Los escombros siguen tapando el drenaje, causando fuertes inundaciones incluso con lluvias ligeras, mientras miles de familias que han perdido sus casas se encuentran viviendo bajo lonas &ndash;si es que tienen suerte- en lo que esperan a que llegue la asistencia para ayudarlos a levantar una construcci&oacute;n permanente. Este pueblo, que alguna vez fue vez fue un vibrante sitio en la costa este, yace en ruinas. &ldquo;Nunca hab&iacute;a visto tal nivel de destrucci&oacute;n en mi vida. S&oacute;lo quedan huesos de lo que alguna vez fue el hermoso puerto de Punta Santiago. En un lado de la carretera sol&iacute;a haber una magn&iacute;fica valla de palmeras, y ahora luce como un monumental cementerio de &aacute;rboles. La mayor&iacute;a completamente derrumbados mientras que al resto le quedan apenas un par de ramas. En el otro lado, postes de electricidad inclinados ponen en riesgo a los automovilistas que transitan por ah&iacute;, exponi&eacute;ndose a que uno de estos pueda caer en cualquier momento. El techo de metal de una cancha de basquetbol fue completamente derribado hasta el suelo, como si se hubiera derretido&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>A lo largo de este emotivo viaje, Robles contin&uacute;o haciendo lo que hace mejor: fotografiando bailarines de ballet locales mientras giraban y brincaban por las calles de la ciudad. Esta vez, en cada estirar de pierna y en la punta de cada dedo, la intensidad emocional es palpable. Envueltos en los escombros de su hogar, nos recuerdan no darle la espalda a lo que ha ocurrido ah&iacute; y, al mismo tiempo, demuestran la fuerza y determinaci&oacute;n caracter&iacute;sticos de los puertorrique&ntilde;os.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Robles se&ntilde;ala que, si bien m&aacute;s de 200,000 puertorrique&ntilde;os han dejado la isla despu&eacute;s del hurac&aacute;n Mar&iacute;a, tanto los que se han ido como los que se han quedado se sienten agradecidos por lo que a&uacute;n tienen. &ldquo;En todas las historias que he escuchado, hay una frase en com&uacute;n, como un mantra: &lsquo;pero al menos estamos vivos y eso es lo importante&rsquo;&rdquo;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Si deseas ayudar a las familias en Ca&ntilde;o Mart&iacute;n Pe&ntilde;a -la comunidad de San Juan que Robles visit&oacute;- a obtener techos permanentes, una organizaci&oacute;n sin fines de lucro local est&aacute; recaudando fondos a trav&eacute;s de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalgiving.org\/projects\/from-tarps-to-roofs-hurricane-maria-puerto-rico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Giving<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Omar Z.
