Al haber crecido en un rancho de ganado en Dakota del Sur, Murphy no es ajeno al trabajo duro y la dedicaci&oacute;n. Esto lo ha llevado a la Ant&aacute;rtida, a &Aacute;frica y&mdash;con m&aacute;s frecuencia&mdash;al parque nacional de Yellowstone, donde lucha contra condiciones clim&aacute;ticas adversas para hacer un retrato preciso de los animales en su h&aacute;bitat natural.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a su tenacidad&mdash;y a su buen ojo para capturar el comportamiento animal&mdash;su trabajo ha aparecido en <em>National Geographic, Life, Architectural Digest <\/em>y <em>Newsweek<\/em>, entre otras publicaciones. Desde los a&ntilde;os 80, el fot&oacute;grafo ha compartido su amor por la naturaleza con otros, guiando <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmurphywild.com\/photography-tours\/\">expediciones fotogr&aacute;ficas<\/a> en Yellowstone y otros lugares ex&oacute;ticos. Es durante estas expediciones que el fot&oacute;grafo autodidacta puede inculcar el respeto que siente por los animales en otros, ense&ntilde;&aacute;ndoles a observar en vez de forzar la imagen.<\/p>\n<p>Las fotos que Murphy tom&oacute; durante el invierno son particularmente interesantes. Sin miedo a soportar temperaturas extremas al lado de estos animales, Murphy nos permite ver la voluntad de supervivencia de alces, ciervos, osos y zorros, a&uacute;n cuando la naturaleza no est&aacute; a su favor. El rancho tiene m&aacute;s de 3,000 hect&aacute;reas de pastizales ubicados en la parte central del oeste de Dakota del Sur. El clima en la mitad del continente es caluroso, m&aacute;s de 37&deg;C en el verano y fr&iacute;o en el invierno, por lo general con varias semanas de temperaturas de entre -30&deg; y -40&deg;C. Ah&iacute; el viento sopla al menos 300 d&iacute;as al a&ntilde;o. Aprend&iacute; no s&oacute;lo a tolerar condiciones clim&aacute;ticas extremas, sino tambi&eacute;n a trabajar con ellas. Caminaba en condiciones de ventisca cuando los motores no arrancaban y hac&iacute;a demasiado fr&iacute;o para montar a caballo.<\/p>\n<p>Mi objetivo en la fotograf&iacute;a de vida silvestre es ilustrar y contar las historias de las criaturas salvajes. La temporada m&aacute;s restrictiva para los animales es el invierno. Para contar las historias completas de la vida de los animales, necesito contar sus historias durante el invierno. Por lo tanto, no s&oacute;lo ten&iacute;a que verlos en invierno, sino tambi&eacute;n ten&iacute;a que vivir con ellos hasta cierto punto. Soy completamente autodidacta y he luchado por mi cuenta para dar sentido a cosas como la profundidad del campo y para aprender por qu&eacute; es importante utilizar esa herramienta en cada composici&oacute;n. Sigo amando el reto de tomar una fotograf&iacute;a significativa que d&eacute; a los dem&aacute;s una idea de la vida de la tierra y de las criaturas salvajes. Me levant&eacute; al amanecer y sal&iacute; a pie, sabiendo que muchas cosas pod&iacute;an estar cubiertas de escarcha: ramas, pasto y animales. Esta bisonte estaba de pie en el fr&iacute;o extremo, esperando tranquilamente a que la temperatura subiera un poco antes de salir a buscar su desayuno. La mayor parte de Yellowstone, a pesar de tener m&aacute;s de 720 kil&oacute;metros de carreteras a su alrededor, es una zona salvaje. Creen que el animal est&aacute; posando, le gritan o aplauden para que los mire o se ofenden cuando les da la espalda y se aleja.
