Todos hemos visto perros pequeños con una actitud aún más desafiante que la de canes más grandes; sin embargo, todavía necesitan un poco de ayuda para protegerse. Desafortunadamente, muchos perros pequeños suelen ser atacados por coyotes, perros agresivos e incluso aves de rapiña. Por ello, una empresa familiar en San Diego está haciendo todo lo posible para salvar a cuantas mascotas sea posible. Paul Mott, Pamela Mott y Nicole Mellom (de CoyoteVest<\/a>) diseñan “armaduras para mascotas”: una línea de arneses y chalecos con cerdas y púas. Estos accesorios para mascotas no solo ayudan a intimidar a los depredadores, sino que también hacen que nuestros peludos amigos se vean bastante rudos.<\/p>\n

La idea de CoyoteVest surgió después de que un coyote matara a la mascota de la familia, llamada Buffy. En un esfuerzo por evitar que les suceda lo mismo a otros animales, desarrollaron un accesorio salvavidas llamado CoyoteWhiskers. Las cerdas de nylon, livianas y de colores brillantes, se adhieren a la parte superior de los chalecos y arneses con velcro, creando un escudo inspirado en los erizos.<\/p>\n

Los CoyoteWhiskers pueden verse afilados, pero en realidad no harán daño a los depredadores. “Si bien los CoyoteWhiskers en realidad no lastiman a nadie ni perjudican la movilidad, son lo suficientemente rígidos como para irritar los ojos y la boca de un atacante”, dice CoyoteVest. “Imagina que estás tratando de comer tu cena con las manos atadas a la espalda y estas cerdas sobresaliendo del plato; ¡sería difícil!”<\/p>\n

Los chalecos, arneses y cuellos con púas de CoyoteWhiskers están disponibles en diferentes combinaciones de colores. CoyoteVest también vende “Hawkeyes”, una imagen impresa que hace que tus mascotas parezcan tener ojos en el trasero. “La idea es que una rapaz podrá ver estos grandes ojos desde lejos e incluso los disuadirán de atacarlo”.<\/p>\n
