El proyecto es uno de los primeros parques en abrir tras el inicio de la pandemia de COVID-19 y sin duda ayudar&aacute; a reconectar a los neoyorquinos con sus espacios p&uacute;blicos.<\/p>\n<p>El elemento m&aacute;s llamativo de Little Island son los dram&aacute;ticos pilares que sostienen el parque. &ldquo;Nos inspiraron estos pilotes y la ingenier&iacute;a civil necesaria para construir estructuras que puedan soportar las condiciones extremas del r&iacute;o&rdquo;, explica Thomas Heatherwick de Heatherwick Studio. &ldquo;&iquest;Podr&iacute;amos convertir a estos en los h&eacute;roes de nuestro proyecto, en lugar de esconderlos? Fotograf&iacute;as del parque reci&eacute;n inaugurado muestran el rango de movimiento logrado a trav&eacute;s de sus diferentes alturas. Este sistema tambi&eacute;n ayud&oacute; a los dise&ntilde;adores a incluir programas compartidos interesantes como un anfiteatro y un escenario. Quiz&aacute;s la mayor caracter&iacute;stica funcional de Little Island es la incre&iacute;ble biodiversidad que introduce en el &aacute;rea.
