Incredibly Realistic VFX of Giant Grim Reaper Menacingly Keeping Watch Over Bridge

Toronto-based web developer and digital artist Justin Leduc has captured the attention of millions with his eerie 3D animation of a red-hooded Grim Reaper menacingly keeping watch over the Golden Gate Bridge. Posted a little over a week ago (on July 24, 2018), Death's visit to the landmark has since gone viral, with over 13 million views.

The terrifyingly realistic video shows a huge, haunting figure standing in the mist-shrouded San Francisco Bay. Clutching one of the bridge towers, the Grim Reaper slowly scans the one-mile wide bridge from left to right. The footage appears to have been filmed from a helicopter on a gray, foggy, rainy day, heightening the ominous atmosphere. As the “camera” circles the scene, the audio captures the sound of the spinning propellers and the roaring winds outside.

Leduc rendered his incredible animated graphics using Cinema 4D, an application that allows creatives to bring their imaginative ideas to life. We’re sure this won’t be the last viral video from Leduc—his Instagram bio reads, “And the funny thing is, I'm just getting started.”
