Telephone Booth is a Portal to Infinity

Call it an art trend but it's sure one that I'm not tired of. Lately, artists have been using mirrors and lights to create mind-bending illusions that make viewers feel like they've stepped into infinity. Who could forget French artist Serge Salat's crazy cube-filled room and who doesn't want to experience one of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama's stunning spaces? (If you're in New York, you can until September 30.)

Reality Show by Chilean artist Ivan Navarro let viewers feel that sensation by stepping into a simple telephone booth. Surrounded by an infinite tunnel of light, viewers are disorientated, unable to grasp a sense of reality. Interestingly, those outside the booth can see the expression of the person inside but, due to the enclosure's one way glass and mirrors, the participant is unable to see outside the walls.
