Teen Dons Dapper Suit to Meet Newborn Niece Because “First Impressions Matter”

On the day of his new niece's birth, 18-year-old Grant Kessler turned an already exciting hospital visit into a formal affair. Determined to dazzle the newest member of his family, Kessler decided to dress to impress, foregoing casual attire for a strapping suit.

On January 3, the teenager joined his siblings—20-year-old Bronwen and 16-year-old Iris—at a Columbus, Ohio hospital. There, their oldest sister, Olivia, was giving birth to a bundle of joy named Carter. Pairing his best sport coat with a sleek black tie (and tie clip!), Grant turned heads as he awaited the baby girl's arrival. While he predominantly made the effort to properly welcome the newborn, Iris took notice. After snapping a candid shot of the dapper dresser, she posted it on her Twitter account. The photo was accompanied by a short and sweet caption that, when paired with the seemingly inconspicuous image, immediately garnered attention on the social media site: “My sister is about to have a baby and my brother showed up to the hospital in a suit because ‘first impressions matter.'”

While the doting sister assumed her sweet Tweet would only charm her friends, family, and followers, it quickly went viral. With nearly 500,000 likes and over 141,000 retweets, the precious post has had a wide-reaching impact in the 3 days since it was conceived.

In addition to international online attention and even multiple news appearances, Daniel George Custom Suits has even invited Grant to their Chicago store for a custom suit fitting. Of course, always one to make a “good impression,” he gladly accepted the offer!
