Sweet Portraits of Shelter Puppies by Michael Kloth

You could say that Michael Kloth was destined to work with shelter animals. His thesis project for his Master of Fine Arts degree involved photographing adoptable animals and the following year he released the books Shelter Cats and Shelter Puppies. The great news is that his professional portraits helped the puppies you see here get adopted in a matter of days or weeks.

As he says, “Shelter Puppies is by and large an upbeat book. It is primarily a book of cute pictures and happy endings with a bit of a ‘please be responsible pet owners' message.'”

He continues, “Ideally, I'd like people to consider adoption as their first and best option for bringing a new pet into their home. I fully believe that anyone can get a great pet from a responsible breeder but I also think that they can get a wonderful companion from a shelter or rescue, too. There is no downside to looking at adoptable pets in shelters and I fully believe that anyone with a bit of patience can find the perfect pet from a shelter or rescue.”
