Glowing Swirls of Color Create Mythical Scenes

The extreme energy of San Francisco-based artist Michael Page pops off of the canvas in all of his paintings. Each creation is a kaleidoscope of colors swirling together to form fascinating mythical narratives. Through an abstract mix of paints and free flowing lines, the glowing lights of otherworldly realities come to life.

Page's previous work focused more on darker realms relating to death, but for his new series called lan Vital, he explains, “I again wanted to turn my pieces inward, but looking at the beginning of life, rather than the darker side of leaving life.”

Here is a preview of the show, which kicks off tomorrow and will be at the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco through May 5, 2012. The gallery website says, “Through boundless shapes of thick brush strokes and effervescent colors, his paintings portray the Pneuma or spirit/soul that breathes in every living organism.”
