Nikolay Glazunov is a Russian photographer who creates extraordinary portraits. In this particular series, called Alexandra, he experiments with projections of 19th-century art and other light projections onto a wall and incorporates a female form into each scene. By combining the flat, painterly colors and scenes with a real life model, Glazunov blurs the distinction between fact and fiction. As a result of this abstraction, the viewer is compelled to create a narrative that defines this tangled combination of time and space.
