Os Gemeos’ Colorful L.A. Exhibit

There's something very Tim Burton-esque about Brazilian artists Os Gemeos' works. I think it may be the shape of the bulbous lamps emerging from the ground that remind of me of Burton's similarly-shaped character. You know the one I'm talking about. While the well-known director's animated illustrations follow gothic themes, often shying away from excessive color, Os Gemeos' fantasy world pops with a wide array of vivid hues.

The twin brothers that make up Os Gemeos, Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, really utilize the colors of the rainbow, allowing clashing colors to coexist. The artistic duo's exhibit Miss You, which just recently opened at Prism in Los Angeles, provides a unique outlook on a gallery space. Rather than simply placing paintings on a wall or displaying a sculpture on a pedestal, this exhibit offers an experience. It's as though you are delving into an alternate universe where muted colors do not exist and there is an explosion of color that has crossed over to the space's walls, floor, and ceiling. Featuring the duo's signature-styled characters and varied forms of art, from illustrations and installations to sewn paintings and video, it's sure to be a feast for your visual senses.

Miss You will be on view at Prism Gallery until March 24, 2012.
