Young Photographer Forces Us to Tap Into His Surreal World

Rob Woodcox creates a world full of mystery through his surreal photography. With several frames clouded in dark and smoky settings, the Michigan-based photographer sets the scene for intrigue. Woodcox, who categorizes his style as “realistic surrealism” captures an inspiring array of portraits of people in precarious situations that leaves the viewer wondering what the context is of each scene.

Inspired by the works of renowned fashion photographer Tim Walker and drawing ideas from his very own dream journal, Woodcox produces intriguing visual narratives that are left up to the viewer to formulate. There is a dreamy quality about his work that projects the young photographer's active imagination. Having first discovered his passion for photography as a suitable profession in 2009, the young photographer seeks to do more than take simple photographs. Instead, he hopes to relay an unusual story, forcing viewers to tap into the imaginative quarters of their own mind.
