Iconic TLR Rolleiflex Camera Is Coming Back as an Instant Camera

Rolleiflex Instant Camera

As a throwback to the era of film photography, German brand Rollei have recently revived their classic twin lens reflex (TLR) camera range with the new Rolleiflex Instant Kamera. Launched on Kickstarter this month, the new TLR retains the iconic look of the original model from 1927, but has been updated with modern features. Perfect for today’s analog photographers, the modern, 30% slimmer version captures the world with “dream like, unpredictable photos,” oozing with nostalgic charm.

Rollei began exploring ways to revive the Rolleiflex line in 2017. The company states, “[W]e gathered camera enthusiasts, experienced technicians, TLR lovers and other camera manufacturers together in order to brainstorm new ideas for how to re-introduce the TLR for the modern era.” And so the Rolleiflex Instant Kamera was born; it’s their first new camera design in decades.

Optimized for the widely available Fujifilm Instax Mini film, the Rolleiflex Instant Kamera features a twin lens system, aperture control, multiple exposure modes, a built-in flash, and much more. Once you’ve chosen your settings and taken your shot, users can eject their instant photo through the viewfinder box by pressing the film eject button.

You can currently purchase a Rolleiflex Instant Kamera on Kickstarter for approximately $395. The product is scheduled to ship in October 2018.
