Rolling Huts – The Modern Alternative to Camping

If you've ever wanted to be one with nature but don't think you could live without some modern day amenities, check out the Rolling Huts in Washington's Methow Valley. Designed as a modern alternative to camping by Tom Kundig of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects, the six huts are grouped as a herd, each with views of the mountains. Each hut comes equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave, fireplace and Wi-Fi. A sleeping platform is perfect for two, and the modular furniture in the living area can be reconfigured to sleep two more. Each hut has an adjacent portable toilet, and full bathrooms and showers are housed in the centrally located barn just a short distance away. The huts are set on short, wheeled legs and evoke a pared-down style with a treatment that speaks to Thoreau's philosophy of self-reliance and simplicity. Rates range from $80-$110 per night (2 people) depending if you're camping in low or high season. Now that's what I call camping! (I'm such a city girl at heart.) Rolling Huts
