Shockingly Beautiful Eye Artwork

When I first saw these colorful photographs, I was immediately reminded of Cristina Otero's fruity self-portraits, seen early this year. From oranges to watermelons, Otero wowed us with her incredible talents for making captivating images with just fruit as her inspiration. This time, in a similar vein, German artist Svenja Schmitt created a surprising series of Eye Art. In her compositions, she eliminated most of the face and narrowed in on just the eyes as the main focus of her enchanting portraits.

The designs are inspired by all kinds of people, places, animals, and things. Some feature tiny insects, crawling dangerously too close to her subject's eye, while others are more conceptual illustrations of the seasons and fictional Disney characters. Piercing blue and green eyes stare out against the harsh black mascara, sparkling jewels, and colorful make-up. From rainbows to peacock feathers, the make-up artist and photographer has certainly dazzled us with her fancy designs.

If you enjoy this kind artwork and want to know more about how to do it, Scmitt offers a variety of tutorials on YouTube, which can be located through her DeviantArt homepage.
