Opening Reception: May 2nd, 8pm-11pm @ Subliminal Projects Gallery: Los Angeles

Mark your calendars, one of our favorite artists is coming to LA! In his show Ego, Addiction, and Other Bedtime Stories, Sam Flores tackles what is perhaps one of the most pervasive themes in human existence: the struggle between light and dark. Through color and contrast, Flores addresses those parts of our selves that seek to hide behind the protective mask of acceptance while our inner demons claw at us from the inside. The exhibit will run at the Subliminal Projects Gallery in Los Angeles through May 30th, with the opening reception on May 2nd, 8pm-11pm. “There is a constant war being waged in the fight for balance,” says Flores, “to determine which side of us, good or bad, will win out in any given moment.” Yet despite the eternal conflict, Flores never hesitates to remind us of the potential for beauty to shine through – even in our darkest hours.

Dates and hours: Show runs from May 2nd through May 30th, 2009 Tue-Fri: 1pm-6pm Sat: 12pm-5pm Opening Reception: May 2nd, 8pm-11pm Cost: Free Sam Flores' website Subliminal Projects Gallery website 1331 W. Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90026 213.213.0078 Map and Directions
