Vans Is Releasing a Frida Kahlo-Inspired Collection to Celebrate the Legendary Painter

Vault by Vans x Frida Kahlo Collection

Skate brand Vans is known for partnering with a variety of brands and artists to produce collections that celebrate art and culture. Last year, it released an epic collaborative collection with the Van Gogh Museum, allowing fans of the Dutch master to wear his art from head to toe. This year, Vault by Vans is releasing a new art-inspired collection, featuring classic sneaker styles adorned with a curated selection of Frida Kahlo paintings.

The colorful footwear collection celebrates the art and life of the Mexican artist, who is best known for her self-portraits and nature-inspired works. Three of Vans’ iconic styles have been updated to honor Kahlo’s artwork, including the OG Sk8-Hi LX which now features one of the artist’s famous self-portraits, titled The Two Fridas (1939), styled with a dark green toe cap. The OG Authentic LX shoe features a watermelon print from the artist’s Viva la Vida (1954) painting, and the OG Slip-On LX celebrates Kahlo's iconic painting Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird (1940).

The limited edition Vault by Vans x Frida Kahlo collection is due to launch on June 29, 2019 and will only be available at select Vault dealers.
