The architectural innovators over at Deep Ocean Technology have a conceptual design that is set to change the hotel industry and the vacationing experience in the Middle East. The Water Discus Underwater Hotel is designed as a modern and aquatic alternative to the mundane hotels found on land. The grand structure features several discs both above and below water.

Incredible Five Star Resort Submerged Underground

Below the surface, in a former rock quarry, a five-star resort is currently being built with almost all floors below ground level. Located in the Songjiang district (close to Shanghai) in China, the InterContinental Shimao Wonderland will stand 19-stories tall, with 16 of them below ground! Along with 380 hotel rooms, the unique building will incorporate conference facilities for up to 1,000 people.

Monumental Building Honors Titanic’s 100-Year Anniversary

As the 100-year anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic quickly approaches, various memorials and tributes have been planned. One notable project that has been in the works since 2009, and just opened to the public, is the Titanic Belfast. The monumental site is considered the iconic centerpiece of a bigger regeneration project and is a collaborative effort by Todd Architects and CivicArts/Eric R Kuhne & Associates.
