Psychologist Explores the Human Psyche in Thought-Provoking Illustrations

Inspired by the universes of Tim Burton and Hayao Miyazaki, Cyril Rolando creates surreal digital art that examines the human psyche. His impressive pieces explore imagination, insecurities, as well as hopes and dreams. To communicate these aspects of existence, Rolando regularly plays with the scale of his subjects and uses their diminutive or massive statures to paint them into situations that go well beyond real life. The results can only be in the mind’s eye.

Disney Artist Turns the Ashes of the California Fires into Beautiful Mural Art

In November 2018, California experienced devastating fires that roared through parts of the state. The city of Paradise was one of the most affected by the massive Camp Fire, and residents are still picking up the pieces of its destruction. Artist Shane Grammer, who once hailed from nearby Chico, is using his creative abilities to find beauty among the ashes. On December 31, he began painting murals on parts of the Paradise community ravaged by flames.

Exquisite 19th-Century Sculpture Cloaked in a “Translucent” Marble Veil

For millennia, sculptors have worked in marble, a medium favored for its softness and translucence. These characteristics make the metamorphic rock particularly suited for pieces requiring intricate detail, including anatomical subtleties and flowing drapery.
