Emotion-Filled Steel Wire Sculptures by Gavin Worth

Corpus Callosum Self-taught artist, illustrator and designer Gavin Worth first became interested in wire sculpting after seeing an exhibit on Alexander Calder at the SFMoMA. Since then, he's created his own set of amazing pieces that are both beautiful and moving. “By bending black wire into something of freestanding line drawings, I create sculptures that engage the viewer by involving them in their subtle changes,” Worth says.

Dazzling School of Fish Sculpture

If you were in Australia this past September, you may have checked out the 9th annual Swell Sculpture Festival, an event that brings together artists to display their unique sculptures on Currumbin Beach. This year, out of the 50 sculptures, this one caught our eye. It's called School and it's by artist Richard Howie. “There is something wonderful in the shining, flashing, darting patterns formed by a school of fish,” says Howie. Mesmerizing.

Massive Pushpin Portraits

At first glance, Eric Daigh's artwork appears to be a low-resolution portrait, but upon closer inspection, onlookers can see each piece is made up of thousands of colored pins. Combining creativity along with hours of diligent application, the Michigan-based artist uses 25,000 to 100,000 pushpins to create each piece! As a process artist, Daigh starts by taking a series of photographs of his subject.

The Incredible Slate Sculptor

We've all seen metal sculptures that are unbelievably cool. UK sculptor Stephen Kettle's 1.5 ton slate sculpture of Alan Turing located at Bletchy Park in Britain stands as a testament to the time it takes to create such amazing works of art. The Alan Turing piece took a total of 18 months to complete. His other sculptures consist of figures, busts, animals and other objects like the one featured below.
