18 Excellent Graffiti Illusions

What is it about graffiti that separate it from all other art forms? First, it's done outside. The element of danger adds to the piece, making us appreciate the elusive artist's work even more. Next, it's usually done in a specific place – carefully selected, so that the context becomes just as relevant as the piece. Finally, when you add in an illusion, it takes on a three dimensional view.

Urban Street Art: Subway Shark

Street artist Kapo created this fierce looking shark on a subway entrance in Madrid, Spain. Love how the 3D effect makes it look like the beast is coming out of water. Edit: The subway entrance is some sort of ventilation and the artist is e1000ink.

Incredible Bodypainting – The Last South China Tiger

Craig Tracy is hands-down one of the best body painters in the world. At first glance, this piece looks like a simple painting of a tiger. Look a little closer, and you'll notice that the tiger's face is actually painted on the back of three separate women. Entitled “The Last South China Tiger” this particular project is part of Save China's Tigers' efforts to protect the remaining striped felines in China.

Magnificent Paper Sculptures (5 pics)

Dutch artist Paula Arntzen is an incredibly skilled paper artist. Only after countless hours of studying and observing the special characteristics of paper was she able to create these contemporary light sculptures. All of these were entirely handcrafted before being screen-printed with fluorescent ink. The results are stunning!
