Born in Mexico City, his career spans more than thirty years and in that time he's earned an international reputation for his artistic documentation of life underwater. In particular, he's recognized for his powerful black and white underwater photographs, which harness light and shadow to reveal different aspects of marine life.

Photographer Turns Storage Shed into Ideal Studio for Beautifully Lit Photo Shoots

Photographer Irene Rudnyk proves that you don’t need an elaborate or expensive setup to shoot dreamy portraits. The Calgary-based creative recently produced a series of ethereal images using a storage shed in her backyard. Drenched in natural light with a dewy feel, they look like they were shot at an in-studio session. Unless you knew otherwise, you'd never realize that these photographs were taken in the same place that Rudnyk stores her bike.

Photographer Transforms 20-Year-Old Computer into Functioning Camera

Inspired by ideas of recycling and reusing, Iranian photographer Alireza Rostami created a very special camera. By combining old computer parts with the lens and back of a large-format camera, he was able to build a functional “Frankenstein” camera. This ingenious use of materials is part of Rostami's bigger message about living without waste and finding new meaning in old technology. The project started with Rostami's very first computer, which he purchased in 1999.
