Multicolored Paper Art of the Human Microbiome Mimics Textures Found in Coral Reefs

Many of nature’s objects feature recurring patterns and motifs described as fractals, which can be seen repeating themselves at increasing levels of magnification. Inspired by this phenomenon, artist Rogan Brown creates intricately cut paper art that mimics and compares various organic formations such as cell structures, microbes, shells, and fossils. His latest series, titled Magical Circle Variations, explores the surprising visual similarities between coral reefs and microorganisms found in the human body.

Artist Brings Rooms to Life With Impressionist-Inspired Relief Sculptures on Walls

Russian creative Goga Tandashvili adds an artistic touch to otherwise ordinary walls with his intricate bas-relief sculpture work. Using a combination of hand building and carving tools, the Russian sculptor brings nature-inspired scenes to life as they integrate seamlessly with their surroundings. Giant peacocks, bunches of blooms, and decorative flourishes rise from a flattened surface, resulting in large pieces that are part home decor and part stunning work of art.

Giant Flower Bouquet Takes Over NYC Street With Over 40 Feet of Real Blooms

Landscape architecture and urban design firm Terrain Work has declared their love of New York City by transforming one of its street staples into something fit for a giant. Scaling the conventional flower bouquet way up, they installed Broadway Bouquet, a temporary, site-specific installation comprising a giant cone that contains an assortment of colorful trees and flowery shrubs. The flower installation art measured an impressive 40 feet long and eight feet high.

Ornate Surreal Sculptures Formed From Thousands of Ordinary Objects

Plucked from ordinary life, the items used to create artist Kris Kuksi‘s surreal assemblages are transformed into high art. Since 2004, the American artist has focused on his sculptures, each tinged with a slightly Gothic, dark feel. Using railway model kits, figurines, jewelry, wedding cake parts, wood trim, resin, rocks, and other found materials, he slowly builds up each piece. The end results are fascinating, both as a whole and in detail.
