Multilayered Wood Sculptures Capture the Enchantment of Storybook Forests

Oregon-based artist Jason Pancoast hand-makes layered wood art and shadow boxes that depict whimsical, nature-inspired narratives. The artist is the founder of a creative collective called Shadowfox, which works with emerging artists in the fields of art, design, and fashion. At Shadowfox, they “seek to connect people to the beautiful things they value,” and strive to “enrich the world” around them.

Surreal Snake-Like Sculptures Made From Fallen Bird Feathers

British artist Kate MccGwire creates surreal, enchanting sculptures made from fallen bird feathers. Sourced from local farms, gamekeepers, and pigeon racers, the iridescent, patterned plumage comes from a number of British birds, including magpies, pheasants, and roosters. The artist’s most recent work features feather-covered, snake-like forms that look like hybrid creatures hibernating within confines of antique bell jars, frames, and cabinets.

Incredibly Detailed Miniature Sculpture of San Francisco’s Historic Record Store

For an upcoming exhibition at Palo Alto Art Center, self-taught miniaturist Joshua Smith has once again created a scale model that is a slice of urban life. Following his recent venture into the architecture of Taiwan, Smith has jumped across the ocean, this time tackling elements of San Francisco. The centerpiece of the show is the legendary Discolandia Record Store in San Francisco's Mission District.
