Spiraling Light Portal Made of 960 Bulbs

A spiral of 960 light bulbs lead you through this Y-shaped installation by Carsten Hller. The Sweden-based artist designed this installation, appropriately entitled Y, out of aluminum, wood, cables, and mirrors, to form a continuous daze of flashing, bulb-filled circles that branch out into two pathways. As visitors travel through the installation, they become engulfed in a sea of illumination.

90,000 Colorful Plastic Ball Installation Inspired by Monet

As an architectural pop art tribute to Monet, Canada-based architects and designers at Claude Cormier + Associs Inc. used 90,000 plastic balls to adorn Le Havre City Hall's landscape as part of its Contemporary Art Biennale. The installation, titled Pergola, boasts an eye-catching visual swirl of blues, reds, and purples to add an alternative liveliness to the viridescent garden and urban landscape.

Artist Copes with Depression Through Powerful Paintings

Australia-based artist Margarita Georgiadis uses painting as a way to transform her visions into a tangible reality and as a way of dealing with her own emotions. After the death of her father, Georgiadis felt overwhelming sorrow and says, “My past and present simply vanished.” Rather than sinking into a deep depression, the artist began to explore her feelings in an attempt to understand the empty feelings of nothingness.
