Author Burton Silver and illustrator Heather Busch have collaborated on an art book titled Why Paint Cats: The Ethics of Feline Aesthetics that has been received in varying degrees of praise and disgust. What many don't realize is that it is categorically a humor book that essentially pokes lighthearted fun at the art industry and our societal obsession with cats. Naturally, images from the book have made their way online, igniting some controversy. After all, what would the internet be without cats and anonymous debating?
Each of the furry feline companions depicted in the book are said to be unharmed, having only undergone a Photoshop treatment. However, it's understandable for the public to have thought otherwise or to remain skeptical of the claims because of the convincing color manipulation in each frame. Without altering anything but the color of their fur, the cats are given interesting makeovers, transforming the typical house cat into an explosion of colors, a school of fish, and even a convincing owl.
