Subway Design Declared Most Impressive in All of Europe

Born in Barcelona, Oscar Tusquets Blanca is mainly an architect, but also dabbles in a little bit of everything including design, painting, writing, furniture design, and urban planning. Recently, his firm was commissioned to design the Toledo metro station space in Naples, Italy. Their task was to create a modern design within the underground station, as well as to create a sophisticated environment in the above ground square, where two passenger entrances are located.

The Beautiful Life and Death of 10,000 Roses

Using all kinds of materials, including trees, flowers, candles, sand, and ice, London-based artist Anya Gallaccio creates site-specific artworks that explore the ephemerality of nature. In particular, Red on Green is a stunning display of 10,000 fresh roses that were arranged within a gallery space. Gallaccio pulled the heads off of the roses and arranged them into a tightly packed rectangle.

Colorful Paper Boats Float Across London's Canary Wharf

Playing with a toy boat in the bathtub as a kid is an activity that has stood the test of time. So, it's no surprise that media architect Claudio Benghi and artist Gloria Ronchi, of Aether & Hemera, joined forces to develop this awesome take on such a simple concept. Voyage is an extensive journey of illuminated ‘paper boats,' floating across the surface of London's Canary Wharf.

Giant Tree House Built With Recycled Materials

This incredible tree house design, featuring two floors and even an outdoor, second-story porch, seems way better than anything most of us ever played in as kids! French artist and designer Jean Paul Lespagnard and Maine-based artist Ethan Hayes-Chute collaborated on this unique concept, entitled Dig For Victory, as part of the 2010 Hyres fashion festival.
