Old Church Converted into a Modern Bookstore

We've seen some breathtaking libraries in the past and this bookstore is no exception when it comes to innovative design. One branch of the popular Dutch bookstore chain Selexyz can be found right inside of a 13th century Dominican church in Maastricht, Holland. The project known as Selexyz Dominicanen Maastricht, designed by architecture firm Merkx + Girod, exemplifies a brilliant union between the opposing aesthetics.

Man Builds $5,200 Hobbit House

Last week, we saw a lodge in Chile that looked like a hobbit hotel and this week we bring you a woodland home with a similar aesthetic. Though this domain doesn't gush gallons of water, it is an alternative living space for a natural homestead. Photographer Simon Dale is responsible for the design and construction of this eco-home, despite his inexperience in architecture and carpentry.

Glass House Surrounded by Nature

London-based architects firm PCKO collaborated with Poland-based MOFO Architects to create this stunning glass house that's located smack dab in the middle of nature. The fully-glazed steel frame structure, suspended above site, preserves the existing natural environment and offers beautiful panoramic views of the distant Tatra Mountains. Cars-Inspired V8 Hotel (12 pics)

Lightning McQueen and his Radiator Springs pals would surely approve of this hotel. After all, the V8 Hotel in Stuttgart, Germany seems like it's inspired by the Disney/Pixar movie “Cars.” The four star establishment is built inside the old Boblingen Airport and features 34 rooms, 10 with their own unique interior. Depending on their mood, guests can sleep inside a 70's Cadillac drive-in cinema, a Mercedes Benz carwarsh, or a Morris Minor garage.
