Winners of the 2014 Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards

The winners of the 2014 Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards have been announced at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore. Taking home the grand prize and the title of the Arcaid Images Architectural Photographer of Year 2014 (in association with Sto and supported by WAF) are the photographers Hufton + Crow, for their stunning image of the interior of Zaha Hadid's Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Building Concept Imagines Trees on Roofs to Replenish Green Space in Cities

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the amount of available greenery has diminished. While the landscape was originally lush with tropical forests, it's currently experiencing rapid urbanization, as are other cities in the country. There's an overabundance of motorbikes that cause traffic congestion and serious air pollution problems. To help combat this issue is House for Trees designed by Vo Trong Nghia Architects.

Illustrated Poster Highlights 90 of the World’s Architectural Achievements

Have you ever wondered what some of the world's greatest architectural achievements are? A new poster titled The Schematics of Structures by the online shop Pop Chart Lab celebrates 90 structural feats from around the world and throughout time. The image is presented as a blueprint-style infographic, and each building is hand illustrated; they are also accompanied by notations for location, height, year of construction, and architectural mode.

Modular House Design Concept Clings to the Side of a Cliff

In response to a number of clients seeking options for living on extreme coastal plots, Australian prefab architecture firm Modscape created the Cliff House, a design concept for a home that extends precariously from the side of a cliff. Inspired by the way barnacles hang on to a ship's hull, the Cliff House clings to the cliff's edge, providing a thrilling view of the surrounding landscape and ocean waters.
