Flóra Borsi’s Elegant Self-Portraits Subtly Blend Photography and Painting

Hungarian artist Flóra Borsi likes to experiment with photography and other mediums, resulting in incredibly unique projects like urban landscapes set in a coffee universe and abstract portraits reimagined as real people. Her latest series IREL features subtle portraits that simultaneously look like pictorial photos and hyperrealistic paintings. Both sensual and elegant, the images portray the artist herself posing against a simple blue backdrop.

Shipping Containers Painted as Cages in Powerful Series by ROA

Street artist ROA is known for his realistic, larger-than-life murals of animals, and he's taken his talents to the North West Walls Festival in Belgium. He was invited to paint in the city of Werchter and utilized an unconventional canvas for his monochromatic illustrations. A giraffe, goat, bear, and more are found on shipping containers rather than on cement walls.

Indian Folk Art "Rangoli" Uses Colorful Flour and Rice in Stunning Designs

In India, there is a long-standing folk art known as rangoli (or kolam or Muggu), in which patterns are created on the floor using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, and more. The bright designs are usually made during auspicious events like Diwali, Onam, Pongal, and other Indian festivals. You'd also see them during wedding celebrations, and their presence is considered sacred welcoming areas for the Hindu deities.
