Hypnotic GIFs of Anthony Howe’s Kinetic Wind Sculptures

Artist Anthony Howe's 3D kinetic sculptures are massive, moving pieces that utilize the united visual power of wind, metal, and mirrors. We first discovered his spectacular work earlier this year and now, thanks to VICE's The Creators Project, a series of equally hypnotic gifs (created by Jordan Kinley) have been released of several of Howe's pieces. They're also accompanied by some additional insight into the artist's workflow and inspiration.

Amazingly Detailed Portraits Created with Thousands of Dots

Artist Pablo Jurado Ruiz uses impressive Pointillism techniques to fill his black and white illustrated portraits with great detail and personality. Based in Spain, the artist focuses much of his time on portraying people with realistic style. He uses just black ink on paper to produce thousands of repetitive little dots that result in the various shades of gray and rich black across the page.

Mesmerizing Translucent Waves from 19th Century Paintings

The late 19th century Armenian-Russian painter Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky created some truly spectacular paintings of seascapes that capture the beautiful, shimmering essence of the tumultuous waters. The marine artist gained recognition for his impeccable ability to recreate the expressive quality of oceans with over half of his 6,000+ paintings from his lifetime being devoted to the subject.
